2019 was personally a great year for me. Retro debuted at the Dances with Films festival. Siren’s Song with Andy Nordvall hit #1 on the Amazon Kindle in science fiction and fantasy illustration. We even broke into the print top 100 of ART! Pablo the Gorilla was funded and delivered on Kickstarter! It even sold out at my local comic shop. They’re on their second helping!
How is 2020 so far? Well, it’s going crazy!
I have 7 conventions on my schedule!
My first one of the year was Long Beach Comic Expo and I’d say it was a rousing success😊
Next up is Wondercon in Anaheim. Find me at Artist Alley table B-50 April 10-12th !
Why yes, that is a sword wielding Pablo the gorilla!
Hi friends! Long time no see! Let’s start with the fact I just finished a comic submission with my friend Mike Korpi and it’ll be part of bigger anthology that you won’t want to miss. I’ll fill you in soon!
Here’s the start of my next project- also with Mike! Well, I actually started awhile back but I’m drawing character concepts right now.
Can you believe January is almost over?! Yikes
Read this review to find out!
To those who have been following the blog since the beginning, thank you. As this year winds down, I’m finishing work on some projects and starting on others.
Can you believe the year that happened? I’ve been very fortunate in these trying times to find a little shine and it’s thanks to everyone for the support.
Andy Nordvall & I saw our Inktober 2017 project, Siren’s Song, go #1 on Amazon Kindle and break into the top 100 in print for Sci-fi and fantasy art books. We beat out Star Wars & Legend of Zelda. We were in the Art top 100 with Basquiat. If you supported, be sure to leave a review!
Aaron Lindenthaler & I saw our short film Retro debut on the big screen as an official Dances with Films selection. The premiere was at TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, California! How bonkers is that?
Can’t forget that Pablo the Gorilla came to fruition! Thanks to everyone who joined Team Pablo to see this comic through! I’m so happy and proud to have fulfilled this campaign. How insane is it to see a Dustin Nguyen variant cover too!
Starting off the new year will be an appearance at Long Beach Comic Expo. Pablo will start making the rounds at conventions this year as he got a late start at Los Angeles Comic Con. Remember, I’ll be sharing not only my schedule but Dustin’s coinciding ones too; so, be sure to grab a copy of his variant, get it autographed & thank him for supporting indie projects!
Check out this crazy con schedule for 2020!
Check out Godlore Vol.2 on indiegogo! Brian will be inking this piece and I’m sure he’ll kill it. He successfully funded volume 1 on Kickstarter and needs your help to see this project through.
I’ve often told people I have some stupid good luck. Sometimes, it’s hard work meeting opportunity. There’s a lot to be thankful for with Thanksgiving coming up. 😁 In this past week, Pablo the Gorilla made it onto the shelves of my local comic book store, the Comic Bug, in Culver City. It was even between Robert Kirkman’s Outcast and Brian K. Vaughan’s Paper Girls. Not only that, but it sold out and has since been restocked! I also got news I’ll be exhibiting at San Diego Comic-Con in Artist Alley, as well as Heroes Con and Fan X Salt Lake City!
Big thanks to all my family & friends. Huge thanks to the Bug and all the outlets that have had me on! Thanks for being part of my journey. I hope 2020 has some amazing nuggets waiting to be mined!
ICYMI, people were offended by being called boomers last week. I saw “Boomer” trending and thought it was an Oklahoma thing but apparently it’s the millennial counter employed toward the Boom generation’s constant derision and scoffing of their beliefs (did I get that right? ). So, let me get this right (not taking sides), Boomers constantly taunt millennials but then are upset by being called what their generation is known as? I’m a bit lost. However, I’m pretty sure I read that comic and it’s Silver Surfer 😂.
Did this for a Pablo the Gorilla Kickstarter sketch reward.
I think someone will be pleasantly surprised when they get this. The 2 most popular requests for sketches were Pablo and “surprise me. ” Lol.
