Some amazing comic book legends are up today at the EXP Expo! We’re talking about Dan Jurgens, Jim Starlin, Mark Bagley, John Romita Jr., Ron Lim, Brian Haberlin & more! That’s a lot of characters covered between Marvel, DC & Image!
Check the schedule below. Also, find me on the indie creator panel starting at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET. I’ll be with Travis Gibb, Cory De La Guardia, William K. Holland, & Nicole Fernandez!
This event runs through tomorrow so don’t miss out.
In case you missed it, here’s the process.
Finished the doodle and posted on instagram. I guess watching The Secret History of Comics and listening to the “Hamilton” soundtrack got me inspired.
Also, how cool is this?
Denys Cowan, one of the co-founders of Milestone Comics & co-creator of Static Shock gave me a like and left a comment on the Gram! Made my day. I was kind of speechless at first but I responded after I finished fanboying, lol. Also, feel free to follow me on Instagram too @NguyeningIt!
Inked yesterday’s doodle. I did an update of Static Shock’s look.
Any Static fans out there?
I just doodled this one using the fat tip marker brush in Sketchpad. I blocked Batman out in blue, then went into the face and emblem in white.
I feel like the challenge with drawing Batman for me has always been his cape. Where does it go, what does it do? Todd McFarlane always did some of the most interesting cape drawings to me. It was almost like this crazy, amorphous creature that would be slashed and ooze across the panel.
Quick Batman render here: I’ve been testing out this charcoal brush to in Sketchpad for the last few doodles. Bats was one of the first superheroes I learned about. As a little kid, I didn’t have my own comics. It was whatever was on TV or in the movies. The first four super heroes I can remember being into were Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk. To me, Christopher Reeve was Superman, Adam West was Batman, Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno were Banner/Hulk and I had Spider-Man and Friends to watch as a cartoon.
