Did this pinup for the San Diego Comic-Con souvenir book submission. I went a bit Miami Vice/ 80s pastel for the palette. I did this because usually when you see Conan images, very warm tones are employed. I imagined the scene to happen on a giant outcropping of tourmaline. I had been inspired by crystal’s look on a recent Natural History Museum visit. This is one if my favorite recent pieces I did. It was a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it!
I think someone will be pleasantly surprised when they get this. The 2 most popular requests for sketches were Pablo and “surprise me. ” Lol.
Like I said, I’ve been futzing with the new Autodesk Sketchbook Pro Mobile update. The brushes aren’t quite how I like yet so I’m tweaking them as I work.
Autodesk Sketchbook updated on my phone and there a ton of new brushes. I had to figure out which were the ones I most commonly used and tweak them. I’m not 100% satisfied yet but I’ll adapt. In the meantime, enjoy this test run and break from Siren’s Song in time lapse.
Today is Batman day and I thought it would be fun to pay homage to Gustav Klimt and Batman altogether. Dubious is a direct swipe of “The Kiss” but Klimt. I looked at it and copied it a close as I could, then went through to fill in some anatomy for my sake: to figure out placement. This is the start. Next, I’ll tighten the sketch and then digitally paint it. Figured it would be a fun share in the meantime.
